Everybody knows that Berlin is the paradise for urban explorers from all over the globe, right? But the question is: do you know the best spots in the city?
Fotostrasse loves to discover abandoned sites in and out of Berlin and we have a vast list of places we’ve been, but on our top list we have to put Blub. We even have a Guide to Urban Exploration in Berlin, have you read it?
Blub Berlin was a spa and water park back in the days and now is left to rot. From the empty pools all the way to the water slide, Blub is fantastic. We have a post about this wonderful place here.
Located in Neukölln, Blub Berlin is well know by us, urban explorers and because of that, every week that passes it gets more and more destroyed. No words to describe the sadness we feel every time we visit this place and we see people stealing the tiles from the wall or just breaking stuff for no reason.
“Why don’t people left things the way they find?” It is a question we can’t seem to find the answer.
Last time we went to Blub Berlin, just 5 weeks after another quick visit, we saw hipsters stealing some of the furniture that was there (and later we saw the same items to sell on the internet and in a few shops for absurd prices), some young fellows destroying what it was left from the Turkish themed pool, pieces of what it was outside inside with broken glass all over and other shameful stuff.
Months ago it was on all the newspapers here that some twat set part of Blub Berlin on fire. What a disgrace.
This post is an appeal to you all: let the next person discover with the same excitement what you’ve just discover.
Some may blame people that disclose the location for everyone, some will blame the lack of manners of some visitors and some will blame of the youngsters that destroy stuff just for fun. But none of those are true, or maybe all of them are, who knows? The only thing we know is that we can all behave a bit better and do our part, right?
Blub Berlin is just one example but we have so many more Blub-like places around Berlin that are on the same situation. Visit them, have fun there, leave everything exactly how you found. It is not difficult, is it?
Well, lets remember Blub…
My favorite part of Blub is by far this view from the entrance. What do you think?
Blub had this amazing pool that connected outside with inside. This is one of the ways you could reach outside without leaving the water.
When you go up to where the water slide used to be and you look down… vertigo?
Fotostrasse thinks this was some kind of glass pathway from the waterslide to the gym side, but all covered for the winter months. How amazing this places must have been 10 or 15 years ago…
The main pool and the tile pattern from there the fountains (or showers) must have been
The same pattern but a few meters from the above. Before water, now broken glass.
Fotostrasse’s friends discovering Blub
All kinds of trash, all over.. Shame.
How fantastic is this? Be honest!
There was a huge wooden deck connecting many parts of Blub to many other parts. This is a door but you can’t go outside since there’s nothing else to walk on.
