Berlin is known as a party place; what can you do around the city when there is a deadly virus around and partying hard might not be the best choice? How can we enjoy Berlin when Coronavirus is all we can imagine around us?
Grab a beer in a spaeti and walk…
I know it might seem a bit simple, but this is a city full of history, beautiful canals, street art, and parks, with the plus that you can drink on the street. Just leave your house, get a beer (or whatever is your poison of choice), put on some music, and enjoy. You can have your closest people with you if you might as well. Moving around keeps you warm if the weather is not fantastic, but remember to dress for it.
In case you are one of those that gets bored quickly, taking pictures of the cool things you see is acceptable to waste some time and see the city with different eyes.
Take your bike and cycle around!
Berlin is a very flat city, so cycling is a great way to commute and enjoy it. You can plan a route with cycle paths if it’s stressful for you to cycle with cars, or just leave your house and go with the flow. Having a lovely destination (like something to munch on after the exercise or a beautiful view to recharge) is a great way to avoid getting lazy in the middle of the way.
Just keep in mind that Berlin can be annoying to cycle sometimes, as we have mentioned before. Still, some planning can help that a lot; just don’t think you will leave at peak commute time in Sonnenalle and have a chill ride.
It’s time for an Urban picnic!
Eating on the go might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Still, since the lockdown, I have personally started to enjoy grabbing something in a good restaurant and find a place to eat it with my partner or closest friends. It can be sitting by the canal, on a bench in a park, or just a random square, but having a delicious meal in a semi precarious way while having a friendly chat it’s great for a change. If you can always bring your own food and have a fully socially distant meal.
Don’t forget to get yourself some extra napkins, though.
Just play with your balls
You might not be aware of this, but this city has many places to play ping pong and other ball games. There is even a ping pong table map, and if you are lucky, you might find some empty spots. Now with Coronavirus and Berlin Autumn together? Even emptier!
Pack your balls, bring your closest friends and find a nice spot to spend a few hours playing.
Stay at home, simple as that
We have a few excellent ways to enjoy Berlin in Coronavirus times, but nothing is safer than staying at home. We have loads of technology around to make this stay as entertaining and comfy as possible. You can stream everything you might want, have a delivery service of all sorts, enjoy board games, video games for all styles of play, and the whole goddam internet to explore.
We might need some fresh air for our sanity, but our houses can be way more fun than we imagine. Be responsible and stay safe!
