There’s a place in the south of Finland that allows people to get in touch with the most amazing of all the animals that live up north: the reindeers! Reindeers are usually found only in Lapland, but in Sea & Mountain Adventures in Nuuksio you can find them, pet them and even feed them.
Sea & Mountain Adventures is located relatively close to Espoo and Helsinki. In a few minutes driving a car you can easily reach the place and meet Oskar, one of the 5 cute reindeers that live over there.
Oskar is the male alpha and there’s only one adjective to define him: Oskar is a dick head! There we were, a bunch of travel bloggers full of weird moss to feed all the five reindeers. I mean, there were more than 10 people together with buckets full of food, ok? There were us from Fotostrasse, the amazing people from Viagem Criativa, the amazing couple of instagramers from Russia (Alex and Anastasia), Marysia from Poland, Andrew Chow from Singapore, Janicke from Norway, Michael Turtle from Australia and our beloved host Katrin.
Each and every one of us had a huge amount of lichen (a weird moss-like-plant that reindeers seems to love) to give out to all the reindeers, but this wasn’t good enough for Oskar. Oskar wanted all the lichen. Oskar wanted all the other to starve to death. Oskar couldn’t care less for the well being and safety of his group. Oskar only cares about himself.
Oskar is a bit greedy and every chance he had, he bashed his antlers onto the other’s butts and faces. Oskar wasn’t really paying attention if he would hit an eye or stick some of if inside the butt-hole of the others. Oskar wanted all the lichen only for him, at all price. Oskar is a greedy dick head!
There were some reindeers with bleeding antlers, because they pass through this process every year, but from Oskar, no fucks were being given.
Most times, there were more moss than space inside Oskar’s mouth, but he didn’t care. All the moss on the ground, was his. All the lichen on our buckets, guess what? His! All the lichen on our hands was also his. We literally had to trick Oskar to feed the others. That’s how Oskar is. Oskar wants, Oskar gets.
One more fact about Oskar: Oskar is my favorite reindeer ever! One day we’ll go back there and hug Oskar and give all the moss only to him. Oskar deserves, he is the most awesome and full of personality reindeer that we ever met!
