One of my favorite things to do when I’m surfing on the web is to browse around Pinterest. After doing that last weekend I came up with a short, yet useful, list of travel hacks for all of you who like to travel a lot, are a big fan of online check-in and cabin size luggage. I mean, wherever I can cut off airport time, I will! And the main reason why I choose to travel light is to avoid getting in like to check my luggage. Are you the same?

This list of travel hacks goes from saving up space all the way to having peace of mind in a hotel room. Learn more below:

Throw the hotel bar soap into your dirty laundry bag. It can be a small odorless one. And why? So it doesn’t stink up your suitcase for the rest of your trip. If you can’t find one, you can use a dry sheet.

Choose a night moisturizer on your face for long flights because. They are extra hydrating and you’ll have plenty of time to let it sink in and do its job. Your skin will thank me later. I normally choose Cetaphil or Nivea Q10.

Always have one ecobag with you all the time. One you’re traveling and you need to take your computer somewhere, they have the right size for your laptop and they take almost no space in your luggage. You don’t want to have to lug your carry-on bag with you everywhere, do you?

Store your power cords, headphones and iPhone cables in an old sun glass case. It’ll keep your sanity. We promise. If you want some more professional, you should try the Maxpedition Pocket Organizer. Felipe has one and he loves it.

You don’t need a big make up bag if you’re traveling. Make smarter choices. Ditch your blush, lipstick and eyeshadow and pick one of those  all-in-one makeup products like W3LL People’s Universalist stick or similar. If you can’t find one, just use either a creamy blush like this one from NYX. You’ll save major space and will have a good excuse to ask for that beauty souvenir while you’re away.

Another tip about make up. Do you know you can use your mascara as an eyeliner? You just gotta press the wand as close to your waterline as possible. You won’t get a cat eye but it is perfect for a smudge look.

scarves and pashminas are a travelette’s best friend. It can be used in so many forms! From protecting you from the cold air conditioner inside a plane to giving you a whole new look when you’re traveling with you’re cabin luggage only.

Leggings are perfect for traveling. Specially if you sleep like a rock during flights. Wear them under dresses and skirts for extra comfort.

Use the Rolling Method when you put your clothes in your bag. Rolling is better than folding!

Find your savior. That product that can save your skin on extreme conditions. May I suggest a travel-sized Cetaphil? It does wonders for me in winter trips and when my skin is suffering with sun and sea water. It won’t be confiscated by the security at the airport if it’s under 100ml and can be a life saver if you have dry or sensitive skin.

Can I blow your mind? Use a pill container to store and sort your jewelry. *dropping the microphone*

Make room in your luggage for an extension cord. Hotels for some reason are not really good with placing the outlets close to your bed on both side. And everybody could use a few extra places for all the gear we usually travel around, huh?

Wear your heaviest shoes and don’t pack them. The same with your heavy winter jacket. I’ve lost track on how many times I’ve used my jacket as a pillow.

Choose clothing items around a color scheme only. Pick 3 or 4 colors like denim/gray/black/white. It will make your life much more easy because it is so easy to mix and match and your luggage way lighter. Dress up your outfits with accessories, scarves or jewelry.

Bring several pairs of underwear in your carry-on—just in case your luggage winds up lost.

Everybody have some of those tiny hotel shampoo bottles laying around. Fill them up with your favorite hair products and take at least 1kg off your final luggage weight.

Pre-pack what you can. I have always my toiletry bag ready to go. Do that to so you don’t need to go crazy filling up small containers the night before you leave.

Short trip? Place a small quantity of your favorite foundation and concealer into one of those contact lenses plastic cases. This one is the cutest ever, check it out.

Place a cotton pad in your powder compact or blush to make sure that it won’t break while you’re in transit.

Wear something with deep pockets on the plane, preferably with zipper. It’ll prevent you from getting lost inside your bag for your phone, passport, wallet, and boarding pass every five minutes. And the zipper part is just to avoid “accidents”

Curly irons and hot hair tools take too much precious space. Spritz damp hair with sea salt spray, wrap it up in a “genie-style” with a towel and sleep on it. Wake up, take the towel off and voilá: beachy waves.

Place your bobby pins in a Tic Tac container to keep from losing them.

Place a plastic film between the shampoo cap and the shampoo bottle to avoid spills

Protect your razor blade with a binder clip like the picture below.
