Papelote is the Place for Paper Lovers in Prague

Papelote is an original Czech stationary shop focused on pencil cases, original notebooks and notepads, wrapping paper, felted products and a lot more exciting items and products.

Everything they sell is made in an environmentally friendly way, including all the materials they use. And, because of all this and the originality of what they sell, Papelote earned the Czech Design Award in 2011 for Store of the Year. This was when the shop caught our eye, but we only manage to visit the shop in December 2016, when we spent a couple of days exploring Christmas Markets and Cemeteries in Prague.

If you have been following Fotostrasse for a while, you know that we love to write about design and stationery shops around the World. This happens because we love paper. We like to touch and to write down on it, and this is why we needed to visit Papelote in Prague.

Papelote started as a dissertation from graphic designer and illustrator Kateřina Šachová. Her idea was to learn how to revive the almost forgotten beauty of paper materials and stationery and to show its role in culture, history, and present. She got together with her husband Filip Šach and their friend Denisa Havrdová and brought Papelote to life in 2009. In June 2010 the store was opened offering a whole range of paper products.

In addition to the shop, there is also Pape.lab that consists of a photography studio and paper workshop focused on creativity and as an idea laboratory. They organize workshops and lectures and, if this sounds interesting to you, keep an eye on their website!
So, if you want to buy an original souvenir from Prague, forget the touristic shops and go straight to Papelote. There you can buy a beautiful diary and beautiful postcards that will help you remember your time in Prague with a lot of love. When we visited the shop, we bought a small notebook with a pencil holder and a cute fabric case. If you can’t visit the shop but still want to see and buy their products, don’t forget to visit their online store.

Papelote is open from 11:00 to 20:00 during the weekdays and from 12:00 to 19:00 during the weekends. Take a look at the map below to help you find your way into the shop.
