Shiso Burger Kantstrasse: Wagyu burgers at Charlottenburg

We munch around Charlottenburg at Shiso Burger Kantstrasse on this week of the insane #52weeksofburgers challenge. Fotostrasse revisits the first burger place we went for the challenge, but this time we are trying out their real meaty burgers in their Kantstraße shop.

Shiso Burger Kantstrasse has the same modern cool decor, but here they have a more grown-up look to it. The music is still louder than we would enjoy. But the whole environment is way more enjoyable than their Mitte venue we went in January. And the waiter was amazing and explained the types of meat and everything super well.

Felipe ordered the Chilli Lemon Burger, large (€8,40) with a 160gr Angus beef patty, cheddar cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomato, red onion, cilantro, ketchup, lime mayo, and chili sauce in their signature bao bun-like bread. This was a delicious burger with delicious meat, I love the cilantro, but the ketchup was a bit overwhelming taking the place of all the other flavors. We also didn’t found the chilliness of it; there was no spice in it at all.

I got their regular Cheeseburger with Wagyu patty (€10,90), cheddar, lettuce, red onions, tomato, pickles, ketchup and mayo in their signature bun. This one was also very delicious, the meat was delicious, and the burgers were perfectly cooked. But again, too much ketchup, this would be delicious with a gochujang mayo, or the chili mayo that came with one of the sides, instead of the ketchup and mayo combo. The bread and the meat here are so good. It is a shame that even ordering the bigger versions these burgers are still way smaller than average. We ordered as sides the Homemade Fries (€3,50); that come with the not-so-good ketchup and mayo but were quite lovely. And the Lotus Chips (€4,20), as the name says, this are just deep fried thin slices of lotus root, served with delicious chili mayo, beautiful, but they don’t change your world. We also got some beer (€4,50), and they have quite an excellent range of it.

Overall, this is an excellent place to have a meal and chat a bit, but the food leans to an expensive side and small portions, even when ordering the bigger burgers. The ingredients are high quality but order your burgers with the ketchup on the bottom if you want to be able to taste your meat. We rate it an 8/10.

SHISO BURGER KANTSTRASSE IN CHALOTTENBURG

Kantstraße 51, 10625 Berlin
www.shisoburger.comThe Chili Lemon Burger was €8,40, the Homemade Fries were €3,50, and the beer was €4,50.If you want some high-quality ingredients and don’t mind the smaller sizes and higher prices, this place is for you. The meat and the bread are great, but order your burgers with the ketchup on the side (or none at all) if you want to taste your burger patty.
