In the center of Berlin, stands a monument to a darker time in the past and a link to a near future. This place is Tempelhof Freiheit, a vast park surrounded by emerging urban quarters.

The airport was originally constructed in 1927 and was occasionally cited as the world’s oldest still operating commercial airport. But, since it is no longer functional, this is not an issue anymore.

When we moved to Neukölln in 2012, this was one of the first places we decided to explore. Barbecues on sunny afternoons were mandatory during the summer and we spent lots of time there during the Campus Party that took place there in august 2012. We have to say that we love this old former airport and this is why we decided to do a post about it after watching the short video below. We hope to post something better than this soon.
