Italy is a country with so much to offer. Culture, history, caves, ancient cities, beaches, volcanoes, mountains… But some of you will agree with me when I say: Italian cuisine is by far, my favorite side of Italy. And Puglia couldn’t be any different, huh? So on this first real post about #WeAreInPuglia, I’ll show you, Italy’s main star: the food! Here you will find out where to eat in Bari like a king.
Where to eat in Bari
While I was in Bari, I had the pleasure to try 3 restaurants: Giampaolo, Terranima and La Cecchina. Until now I couldn’t find my favorite because they were all incredibili. You can find them, plus the photos of some dishes on our foursquare list of Apulia.
Giampaolo Ristorant
Do you know when you don’t know what to expect from a place when you just arrive? And then it was so mouth watering that blew your mind? That is what happened on my first dinner in Bari.
I arrived at the place and left to the owner to decide everything for me. Since it was my first time in Puglia (in English: Apulia), I thought that he would know better about food, right? hahahaha And I can not say how happy I was to leave it to somebody from Puglia to choose my food in Puglia!
The first thing that showed up I was like WOWWWWWWWWWW. And it was just the appetizer!
Shrimps, Cheese, Rostbiff, Fish… All together to make me feel like “There’s no shame in eating for 2 when you are not pregnant if the food tastes this good! F*ck my diet!”
Look at those photos!!!
After the binge with all that, it was time for the main dish. And I have to confess that I ate everything that they served on the antipasti because I thought it wasn’t possible all that food for just a starter… I thought that the antipasti were my main dish hahahaha OMG!
My main dish turned out to be a homemade pasta with mussels, zucchini, and tomatoes pomodore…
Obs: We don’t say tomatoes when we’re referring to the ~fruit~ when it grows in Italian sole. There’s magic on that land. Pomodoro > tomato any-f*cking-time!!
But the best is yet to come, my favorite dessert of them all.. the one, the only, the best tiramisu of my entire life!!! If the previous pictures weren’t enough to make you wanna try this place, trust me when I say that: this tiramisu is heaven in form of sweet mascarpone cheese & coffee! All the food was amazing but this tiramisu made me want to ask the staff of Giampaolo Ristorant to marry me.
Terramina
So, this is my 2nd day, I’m already aware that #WeAreInPuglia’s campaign prepared me loads of food to try, usually in a crazy amount, that the appetizer is an appetizer in despite of the size of it and that I should save space for the rest of my meal… you know, I thought that I was prepared, I thought that I could control myself.
I was prepared until I tasted the sea of amazingness that Terranima’s food was! You know when you know that more amazing food will arrive but what you’re eating is so good that you can’t stop? And because of that you decided that a long walk back to the hotel can the the key to avoid that “I’m soooo full” sensation since you have no self control anymore? Well, that is what happened and I regret nothing!
Binge section number 2 starts with:
*You MUST order this selezione di latticini di Masseria della Murgia barese con ricotta, mozzarella e stracciatella because the stracciatella (yes, this little small pot on the 2nd picture) is the best thing you will put in your mouth. Ever!
How can I resist when all of this show up on my table? Impossible, right? I KNOW!
Well, Terranima prepared not one, but 2 amazing main dishes for me. I was like, looking at my stomach and thinking “I’ve never asked you for anything before, so you must expand yourself because you know how good this food is and you know how crappy I am when I cook. So shut up and enjoy the feast!”.
The dessert this time was something completely new for me: Sporcamuss. It is a typical dessert from Bari and you need to try this! Simple and delicious! And Torta di Ricotta, like a cheese cake, but waaaaay better!
La Cecchina
The last dinner in Bari, the last amazing meal and, after those 2 competitors, I was suspicious if La Cecchina could deliver something so amazing like the previous 2. But I was wrong!
The antipasti was something from another universe and it was the 1st time in my life I’ve tried an octopus so well done! Go there and check it out! It’s delicious!
And I will not even start on the mini hamburger made with seafood… mmmmmm I miss Italy for little things like that.
The main dish was Orecchiette con cime di rapa, a very typical dish with pasta made inside Bari Vecchia (in English: Old Bari). They chose this dish because earlier that day, I had the pleasure to visit Bari Vecchia and see from myself how the ladies there do their famous orecchiette.
The dessert was a mousse made with almonds that made my night better. So good!
So, if you like to eat well when you’re traveling, I really believe that Italy is your destiny on your next holidays. And if you do go, please go to the South first and tell me what did you think about it!
I’ll write about the beautiful places I’ve been in Puglia in a few days, stay tuned for more.

Woah, that looks absolutely incredible especially the first Tiramisu.
The best Tiramisu ever. I can’t put in words, really. It’s beyond my ability as a blogger. You must try it =D
